Catch Up

Okay, so I haven't written much in a while. I am sure it doesn't matter since I don't think that anyone other than Garrett has even noticed that I have a blog. But here is an update anyway.

The meetings in Orlando went well. Very intimidating, but not quite as scary as I thought. Anyone who knows me I worry too much about things I can't control, and usually prematurely. The meetings were long, but one night I did get to go to Downtown Disney.

I have been playing chess a lot in the last few days. My latest game is on hold. It may look like I am doing well (I am the white side), but sadly, my opponent only started with the 2 knights, 1 bishop, the king, and the pawns. LOL! But at least with practice I seem to be getting a little better. No comment on where I got the nice chess set...

My knitting is coming along. I am still working on my grandmother's shawl and I started a cute bag. The sock is done and very big and ugly (like the mitten), so I won't bother posting it. But here (finally) is a picture of the striped scarf.

I am reading Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. I can't wait until Oprah's made-for-tv movie this Sunday (with Halle Berry). The language in the book is so beautiful.

Last night a couple friends from Rochester were in town. I met them at Bruno's Bakery in the village. It was good to see them again. I haven't really seen anyone from Rochester since I left there, except for the few people that also settled down here in this area. I wish more people would come visit since I have no desire to go back there.

Here's a picture I took last week when I was on a very-late-night photo shoot in NYC. I wish I could get back into photography sometimes. I really miss black & white darkroom printing. I am sure I could find a darkroom for rent in the city, but then I remember I get bored with shooting. So I guess it would be hard to find anything to print.
