Home Depot

I just started pulling the ugly wall paper off the walls in my bathroom. You have to understand: when I say ugly, I mean that in all possible ways. I have been wanting to do this for a while, but tonight, it was just a spur of the moment thing. On the surface, it was tye-dyed orange and white sort of contact paper-type stuff, taped on (yes, I said taped) with white duct tape and even masking tape in some places. Underneath where it was pulling up, some really old, dirty, dingy flowered paper could be seen. This was put up with regular wall paper glue from what I can tell. When I moved in, there was also black and white shower and window curtains up. You can imagine what this looked like with the orange and white walls. Anyway, I was not very happy (but also not surprised) by what I found underneath the paper. There are some other (painted, not papered) walls in my apartment that are falling apart slightly, but the bathroom walls are by far the worst. It is basically crumbling plaster over concrete walls (which I can see perfectly over the one foot round hole in the plaster of one of the walls). I took before pictures (meaning after the wall paper was taken down but before I "fix" it, whatever that means) that I will post with after pictures, if it comes out "good enough".

Off to Home Depot tomorrow for some serious supplies and advice... Wish me luck!

On a side note, I am watching a re-run of Saturday Night Live and they just mentioned Dottie's Weight Loss Zone! For those of you who don't know, Dottie's site is kind of famous in Weight Watchers circles. How cool is that? I bet Dottie is happy to have a nod on that show!

Making Progress

I am resolved in the fact that I will probably stay in my apartment for a while. I actually like this neighborhood a lot- it's quiet, friendly, and close to everything. I rarely see my landlords (who are my downstairs neighbors), I chat with the neighbors occasionally, and the tiny lawn we have seems to grow roses and grass beautifully each summer. So, since I have decided to stay a while longer, I bought a desk and figured out a way to stuff a bunch of the ancient furniture in the closet (I can't throw it away since I don't own it). It feels so good to come home to a much less cluttered living room. This may end up being a bad thing since I will like to stay home even more than I already do. But- warm weather is upon us! I have already started taking walks again.

At work, I seem to be finally making some progress, even though I don't have an official project. There is less boredom, and I am learning a ton about device profiling. I will become a color management expert before long!

In other news, it seems I might be getting back into web design temporarily. At work, our resident artist/movie buff wants me to create a website for his art- hopefully, I can do his work some justice! Preview some of his work at Reminisce Antiques & Collectibles before I get his site up and running.
