If You Don't Knit, Don't Read This!

I finally bought a knit stitch "bible". There has been one on clearance at B&N for ages, so I thought I'd finally pick it up. It looked pretty good with lots of stitches, even at the low price. It's a spiral-bound one called The Knitting Directory.

I finished reading Knitting Rules! by the Yarn Harlot. So much of it rang true. She discusses those "mythical" knitters who actually have no stash due to finishing a project before buying yarn for the next. There is actually (amazingly!) such a person in my Stitch-n-Bitch group. This is the 2nd of her books I have read. The other being At Knit's End.

Well, I didn't finish the 1st of the pair of socks that I mentioned in my last post, but I am almost done with the first. I have no idea who I am going to give this pair to. I may keep this pair for myself, but I have promised two old friends that I would knit them each a pair. I have never knitted a full pair before. I always use a pattern to knit one, then get bored with the pattern and stop. I have several randowm mis-matched socks. This will be my first full pair (I promise)! I think since it's my first, I will keep this pair for myself and then next will be for one of my friends. They realized I could knit socks for them when they saw I had knit booties for a friend's baby. "Oh, that means you can knit adult socks, too, right"? I think this pair might be just a tad tight, so I think my next pair will be on size 3 needles anyway. Anyway, here's a picture, in progress...

I am very happy with a gift that a friend of mine gave me for a favor I did for him. A gift certificate to Suss Designs! My favorite knitting store in the city. I can't wait to go and use it! I will have to pick my purchase very carefully as I can't afford to go there regularly.

Here is a picture of one of my first crocheted things, which I mentioned not too long ago.

I love my Stitch-n-Bitch group. There are only three of us who attend regularly but it is so nice to have a few new friends to talk about knitting and life with. I have only known them a few months now, but I am really glad to have met them.

Not Much to Say

I finally got to see the series finale of Six Feet Under. I haven't had HBO for a couple years, so I have been renting the DVDs from Netflix for a while. I couldn't believe it. I was just expecting some normal ending to just end the show. But it was amazing. Maybe it is because I have beem watching these characters for several years now. For a couple seasons, people were saying that the show wasn't as good, but it was completely worth it to watch all the seasons just for the finale alone. I wish I had kept the DVD and watched it again before sending it back.

I am very happy that the new Knitty issue is out. I had been looking forward to it for so long. I especially like the pedicure socks. Very cute and probably very handy.

Looking forward to seeing my knitting group Wednesday. I am about half way through one merino wool sock in a summertime colorway from Extreme Yarns on Etsy. I hope to be starting the 2nd sock at my meeting.

Changes

Things are changing. I have lost some things and gained some things. While I remain busy, I have also had a lot of time to reflect, discuss, and knit. I am improving myself and also realizing that some things don't need as much improvement as I thought. Over the past several years, I believe I have become a much healthier and happy person. I do not know what will happen in the future. I hope someday to start a family and be completely content in my work and home life. I guess this is what everyone hopes for. I hope that I will be given the chance that I feel like I have never fully received. There are several things in my life that I am currently trying to lose. I have begun to lose some and preparing for others. There are other things that I hope to gain back. And I hope my chance comes...
