Pattern Notes: Breeze Lace Baby Blanket
from Karabella

This was my first lace project since the poncho. I had been working on so many smaller projects that I got motivated for something more significant. It took me a while to get used to the lace pattern, which was much more complicated than that of the poncho. I spent a lot of time early on "tinking" and if not for that, it would have probably taken only about a month or so (also, while it was my main project at the time, it was not my only project). I started this in August and finished in early October 2006 for my friend Maura, who is due in November.

Yarn: Karabella Breeze (40% cashmere; 60% silk)
Colors: #26 pink

Needles: US 5 circulars & size E crochet hook
Gauge: 20 sts and 36 rows = 4" over lace pattern

I didn't make any modifications to this pattern, other than repeating the lace section only 21 instead of 24 times. The pattern called for only 5 balls of Karabella Breeze (which I finally found at a shop in Camden, Maine), but I never would have been able to do three more repeats with what I had left. The blanket is more than large enough anyway.

Care: Hand wash in mild soap. Lay flat to dry.
