Pattern
Notes: Fetching
from Knitty
Summer 2006
I
made these in one weekend in late October 2006 after finding
this great yarn at Stix-n-Stitches
in Montclair, NJ. I bought two balls. One for this project and
a second for a matching hat.
Yarn:
Queensland Collection Kathmandu DK Tweed (85% merino wool, 10%
silk, 5% cashmere)
Color: #412
Needles: US 4 double pointed needles
Gauge: 21 sts / 30 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch
I
started out following the pattern casting on 45 sts (after some
calculations to be sure it would work for this yarn- it did).
I wanted to make these a little longer than the pattern calls
for. I like my fingerless gloves to come up to my knuckles,
not just to the beginning of my fingers. So, I added more in
the plain stockinette section and a couple extra cables by the
fingers. I also changed the number of rib rounds between cables
in some places. This mainly was just a mistake that I repeated
on the 2nd glove to make sure they were the same. Finally, instead
of a picot edge, which I didn't love on my
last pair of Fetching, I changed it to a basic straight
edge.
